Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to fill up with the cheaper diesel I can buy there? My trador unit is only a year old.

I'm an owner-driver with a stunning custom truck. To continue the custom theme throughout I've had personalised number plates made in the same font as my company's logo. I've also added the company name to the bottom. Now I hear a rumour that I can't have these on my truck. Is there any truth in this?

There is some truth in this. In its July newsletter, Vosa outlines 'more checks to be introduced for registration plates'. Testers will check: • that the colour of the characters and background comply with regulations • that the character font is an acceptable type • that the minimum dimensional requirements for the size of characters are met • that the size of the margin is correct • that plates are fitted vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practicable • that the non-reflective border is not wider than permitted or positioned too close to the characters • that unacceptable symbols or flags, such as football team crests or car manufacturers' logos, are not displayed For vehicles registered on or after 1 September 2001, registration plates must also: • display the BSAU 145d marking • display the name and postcode of the supplying outlet • not display a honeycomb or similar effect background The two basic compulsory signs that are always required are the vehicle registration number and a GB sign. Other signs can often be required in specific locations. Some of the more common ones include: • When carrying waste products in Germany you will need to display a sign with a capital 'A' on it. There are strict regulations governing where the sign should be placed on the vehicle.

• When a truck is visiting Italy, the trailer must display a set of three round stickers with the numbers 60, 70 and 80 on them. The reflecting films on the stickers must show the approval sign of the Italian authorities.

• For more information on the appropriate signs, contact the Freight Transport Association at www.fta.co.uk
