Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Service station bosses have admitted that lorry parking spaces at an M6 site have been slashed by more than half after an angry driver called CM to complain.

Moto Hospitality, which operates the Knutsford service station in Cheshire, says the move has been taken to make more room for cars. It suggests that truckers should head north to Lymm, where are parking spaces for 320 HGVs.

This will be little consolation to drivers who arrive at Knuts ford on spec, only to find that all the remaining spaces have been taken.

The parking spaces that have been lost are on the southbound section of the service station. To reach Lymm involves going south to Junction 18 before being able to travel north, a round trip of 20 miles.

Moto, which operates 47 service stations, was formerly known as Granada Road Services. It says the parking was changed as part of an £8m redevelopment of the site.

The company adds: "In order to extend the car parking it was necessary to reduce the number of HGV parking spaces from 40 to 18.

"However, given the proximity of our Lymm service area, which is less than 10 miles away and has parking for 320 HGVs, we don't believe this is a major issue," it says.
