Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• TNT Express Europe is strengthening its operations with a 24m expansion of Northampton's inland "port", plus the launch of two specialised European delivery services and the creation of a UK network of dedicated international depots.

TNT's investment in the Northampton site has increased its trailer capacity from six at any one time to 58, representing up to 200,000 tonnes of freight a year.

The centre has doubled its staffing to 500 and plans to take on a further 100 over the next year.

The bonded site handles around 15 international deliveries a day and TNT says the expansion puts Northampton at the top of the league of inland clearance depots.

The first three of a chain of international parcels depots, at Heathrow, Luton and Northampton, are already running, and a fourth in Birmingham is due to open in October. A further seven, bringing the total outlay to £5.5m, are planned to be operating by next summer.

Vehicles will initially be sourced from the company's existing fleet; further vehicles will be added depending on take-up, says TNT.
