Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Northumberland recovery firm is looking for 150 agents nationwide to set up a vehicle recovery network which managing director Maurice Birkett says will "take on the RAC — but in a very small way".

The Roadside Rescue agents will be supplied with one Maestro van which will carry the network logo and will be equipped to RR's specifications. Agents must run at least one recovery vehicle in their own or the RR livery. RR is using a Surrey-based national outfit's operations room and has priority use on its operators list "so work is guaranteed from day one," says Birkett.

RR charges an agency fee of 2.500 a year, which gives the buyer £100 shares in the business and contributes £300 to advertising expenses. The company aims to spend between £15,000 to £25,000 on advertising and promotion this year.

"We're looking for recovery operators who are finding it hard to get work out of the big boys," says Birkett. Three RR agents have been signed up to date, in Newcastle, Sunderland and Bedford.
