• The Leningrad-Orcha road via Luga Pskov Ostrov Opochkaa Nevel Vitebsk is now open for international road traffic, reports the International Road Transport Union (1RU), which says this considerably reduces the westwards journey to Leningrad and Scandinavia. Because of repairs, stretches have limited capacity, and foreigners are recommended to consult competent bodies in their countries before planning journeys. IRU, August 21.
