abroad I understand that I will be involved in an International journey but when does this journey begin? Does it start when I leave my home depot or when I actually pick up the trailer at the docks?
Paragraph 5 of the Department of the Environment booklet "A guide to international goods vehicle drivers' hours and records" states that the Rules begin to apply in place of the normal British domestic rules as soon as a driver begins a working day on which he starts an international journey. Therefore, you will become liable to observe the international Rules as soon as you book on duty on the day on which you pick up the trailer from abroad.
