Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN EXTENSION of the Freight Bonallack demountable-body system for 32-ton-gross drawbar outfits will make its debut at Earls Court. The bodies carried by the vehicle and its drawbar trailer are interchangeable.

The operation of the drawbar trailer demounting system is achieved with centre-line hydraulic rams at the front and rear of the chassis raisihg each end of the body in turn while the legs are extended outwards and pivoted from the horizontal to the vertical position.

For remounting, the rams lift against self-centering inverted cones under the body, which allow for up to 28cm (11in) misalignment. This makes the manoeuvring of the drawbar trailer to line up with the body a relatively easy process. When lowered, the front legs on the body stand wider apart that the rear, allowing the driver a broader angle of approach to assist manoeuvring further.

The vehicle on show belongs to A. E. Taylor and Co (Shipping) Ltd and will be used for distributing Singer sewind machines. The trailer, a York DB16, is fitted with its own batteries, which are charged in transit, and its own hydraulic power unit so that the body on the trailer can be demounted independently of the drawing vehicle.

The trailer runs on 16in wheels and therefore when coupled to the ERF rigid vehicle the running height of the completed unit is the same. The carrying capacity of the outfit is 20 tons.
