BUS fares in Glasgow will be increased for the first time for a year on September 15. The 9p fare will go up to 10p and the lip fare will become 12p. but k the , 5p minimum fare for one and two stages. will remain unaltered.
To offset the increases, which it is estimated will bring in 3.66 per cent more revenue amounting to £417,000 until the end of the financial year in May, the Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive is to introduce a four-weekly unlimited travel ticket The ticket will be valid for departure for Glasgow, will cost £6 and will incorporate a picture of the holder to prevent it being passed around. The ticket will be valid for travel on all services and can be used as frequently as desired.
Concession tickets for pensioners will remain the same at 1 p but the present maximum 4p fare for children will go up to 5p. Passengers using the night service buses will be worse hit with the present 15p ticket increasing to 20p and the night weekly ticket going up from 75p to £1.
