Tynedale District Council, Northumberland, one of the • largest local authorities in England, has decided , against introducing concessionary bus fares for old, and disabled people. Chairman (Councillor S. Wright) said that ratepayers were already subsidising certain bus services, and it was unfair that low-income people not yet at the retiring age, who had a harder job to live than pensioners, should subsidize fares for others.
