During the past few weeks, dockers and drivers, both members of the TGWU, have threatened to black the vessel if its barges are to be conveyed by inland waterway after it has tied up at Hull docks. Whereas in the past, containers from the barges were discharged by the dockers on to lorries at Hull docks, they would now be carried by operators from Rotherham, Leeds, Doncaster and Nottingham. It has been estimated that about 950,000 tons of traffic would be lost to Hull road hauliers if the plan materializes.
