• A Skyworker hydraulic platform, Model 1031, a design extensively employed in the US will be among the exhibits by Austin Crompton Parkinson Electric Vehicles Ltd. at the Commercial Motor Show. It is the first vehicle in Britain to incorporate an aerial lift platform of this type on a standard battery-electric chassis.
This design is intended for street-lighting service, power-line work, overhead maintenance and similar duty. Upper and lower booms are of tubular alloy construction, each acting independently and having a 400 deg horizontal rotation with a vertical reach of 35ft and a horizontal reach of 28ft. The platform is of reinforced plastics construction and gives a 30ft working height.
Fail-safe low pressure hydraulic controls can be operated from both the mast and the platform. In order to give maximum stability four hydraulic jacks are fitted to the chassis. The battery-operated hydraulic system incorporates an interlock governing the working for traction, pump and outriggers.
