C. L. Ricketts has been appointed chairman of the Transport Users Consultative Committee for Wales and Monmouthshire in succession to R. P. Roberts. Mr. Ricketts, who was appointed a member of the Committee in 1953 and has served as deputy chairman since then, is managing director of Elephant Chemical Co, Ltd., Barmouth, and a director of Ricketts Enterprises Ltd.. and of the Development Corporation for Wales Ltd.
J. D. McGregor, managing director of Highway Trailers {Great Britain) Ltd., has been appointed director of the recently established Owen Organisation Integrated Handiing Systems.
E. J. Aaronson is giving up his post as executive director of Autolifts and Engineering Co. Ltd.— a member of the Scammell group—to become deputy chairman.
K. G. auicke has been appointed director of engineering of Clayton Dewandre Co. Ltd., Lincoln, and l-lailwood and Ackroyd Ltd., Morley, Leeds. He will be responsible for the extension of technical resources in the Clayton Dewandre group and intensification of new product development. Mr. Quicke was formerly with Associated Engineering Ltd.

Sir Denning Pearson. chief executive and deputy chairman of Rolls-Royce, and Sir Donald Stokes, deputy chairman and managing director of British Leyland Motor Corporation, are to have honorary degrees of Doctor of Technology conferred on them by Loughborough University of Technology. Leics.
J. R. Edwards, managing director of the British Motor Corporation before the formation of BLMC, has joined the board of Joseph Lucas Industries for which he will also act as a specialist consultant.
Mrs. Elsie Walsh and W. R. Turner have been appointed to the board of the Harrtura Group of Companies. Mrs. Walsh becomes chairman of the board in succession to her late husband, Stanley Walsh. Mr. Turner, who joined the Group in 1962. has been appointed automotive sales director. Before joining Hardura he was trim design engineer at Vauxhall Motors. Luton F. Wilkinson, director and secretary, and W. Grunwell, production director of the plastics division, have been appointed joint managing directors of the Group.
P. G. K. Smithers has been promoted from TricoFolberth Ltd. chief development engineer to the post of chief designer. Mr. Smithors retains responsibility for development work, and will also maintain contact with original equipment customers. The new chief development engineer is B. G. Gardner who was previously with the Ford Motor Co. Ltd. as a senior development engineer.
J. C. Young, 24, traffic trainee with Newport Corporation Transport, has been appointed traffic assistant. Leicester City Transport.
W. G. A. Hall will be retiring as chief engineer of Southdown Motor Services Ltd. in December this year.
OBITUARY We record with regret the death of Thomas James Hughes. Mr. Hughes. 57. of Mirfield. Yorks. who died suddenly on Tuesday after a long illness, was a member of the Hughes Group of Companies, Gomersal, and had been connected with road transport since the 1930s.
