• In their report for 1967, just published by HMSO at 5s, HM Inspectors of Explosives record that progress was made during the year with regulations to control the conveyance of dangerous substances by road both within the United Kingdom and internationally. Final agreement was reached on regulations specifying certain safety precautions and providing for the labelling of some 200 highly inflammable liquids. (These regulations have now been laid before Parliament and will come into operation on October 1 next.) In December, Portugal acceded to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. This had the effect of bringing the agreement into force on January 29 this year. (The UK became a contracting party to the Agreement by ratifying it on June 29 this year.)
