Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO new auxiliary lamps have been I introduced by Crag, Ltd., Barnsley, Yorks. One is the Lumax 87 spot lamp fitted with a 48w. bulb to give a clear beam for fast driving, whilst the other is the Lumax S7 fog lamp giving a flattopped yellow beam for driving in fog or snow.

The fog lamp is provided with a cowl over the bulb filament to eliminate all light rays above the horizontal and cut out back glare, whilst its yellow glass filters light of short wavelength, which is the main source of glare.

Both lamps cost £3 5s. each, and a 4-in, pedestal extension to assist in mounting is available for 7s. 6d.

Quick Adjustment for Lamp ANEW form of adjustment, known as the Micromatic, is now available for use with the 125 series Nearlite and Farlite lamps produced by the Notek Electric Co., Ltd., 23 London Road, Bromley, Kent. The fitting, which is optional, adds 6s. to the price of the standard lamp unit costing £3 8s. Conversion sets for existing lamps may be obtained for 12s.

It is stated that with the Mieromatic, lamps may be adjusted instantly to the position required to suit the -driving conditions prevailing. if a lamp is accidentally pushed it will return to its original position.

A Spring-back Mirror ANEW Tex spring-back commercialvehicle mirror, fully spring-loaded at two points, is available from Magnatex, Ltd., Bath Road, Harlington, Middx. Both the mounting-post bracket and mirror head are spring-loaded, the ,position of the head on the 12-in, arm being adjustable.

Arms 6 in. or 18 in. long can also be supplied, whilst flat or convex-glass mirrors are available in diameters of 4134in. and 51 in .

New Air Compressors ACOMPREHENSIVE range of singleand two-cylindered air compressors has been introduced by Romac Industries, Ltd., The Hyde, London, N.W.9.

Known as • the RT series, the new compressors are available in a variety of models, both stationary and portable. -Capacities range from 24 cu. ft. to 22 cu. ft. of air per minute at maximum Twin-post Lifts A RANGE of twin post hydroPA pneumatic lifts in capacities of 6, 9 and 13 tons, and costing £350, £400 and £550 respectively, is now available from Bellanger Bros. (London), Ltd., 306 Holloway Road, London, N.7.

The posts are equipped with a pair of longitudinal beams, 19 ft. 8 in. long for the 6-ton model and 23 ft. long for the other two. Lifts of 5 ft., 5 ft. 2 in. and 5 ft. 4 in. are provided, in ascending order of capacity.

New B.E.N. Compressor I-1 A NEW single-stage, two-cylindered

air compressor has been added to the range of equipment produced by B.E.N. Patents, Ltd. (Division of Broom and Wade, Ltd.), P.O. Box No. 10, High Wycombe, Bucks. Known as the model RM4, it consists of a vertical compressor electrically driven and mounted on top of a vertical air receiver with a capacity of 2 Cu. ft

The unit has been designed to provide a source of compressed air for intermittent duties up to 150 p.s.i. where space. is restricted, and occupies only If sq. ft. of floor space. An electropneumatic pressure switch cuts out the motor when maximum working pressure is reached. The compressor has a bore and stroke of 2 in. and provides a displacement of 5 c.f.m.

Oil-ring lubrication is employed, and cooling is effected by a continuous draught of air from the vaned flywheel. being directed over the coiled-copper after-cooler.

New Anti-freeze

COMPLETE protection for engine

cooling systems, down to 470 of frost, is claimed for Thylene anti-freeze compound now being marketed by the National Benzole Co., Ltd., Wellington House, Buckingham Gate, London, S.W.!.

It is suitable for both oil and petrolengined vehicles and is specially blended to prevent corrosion. It costs £2 17s. 6d. per gallon.

More Power, Less Fuel PAA NEW oil additive is now being marketed by Roeol, Ltd., Rocol House, Swillington, Leeds. Known as Molyspeed, it is a special suspension of an outstanding lubricant—molybdenum

disulphide—and the addition of a halfpint to every eight pints of oil in an engine sump will, it is claimed, ensure greatly improved engine performance, coupled with reduced fuel consumption. Engine bench tests are reported to have revealed a 20 per cent. gain in power with a 10 per cent. saving in fuel.

MoIyspeed is a suspension of a special form of molybdenum disulphide in an SA.E. 30 premium motor oil for addition to automobile engine oils.

'Molybdenum disulphide is a compound of molybdenum and sulphur. Its principal property is that it bonds readily to metallic surfaces, providing a low-friction film. A molybdenumdisulphide film will withstand higher p:essures-100,000 higher temperatures (750° F.) than ordinary lubricants.

It is recommended that Molyspeed should be added in the correct proportions on every alternate refilling of the sump. A half-pint can costs 15s.

High-temperature Alloys

SERIES of high-temperature cast ing aqoys, offering a wide range of properties for many engineering applications which require high resistance to oxidation and thermal shock, together with high tensile and stress-rupture properties, has been introduced by Henry Wiggin and Co., Ltd., Wiggin Street, Birmingham, 16, under the name N imocast.

Six nickel-chromium-base alloys are now available in the series, and are complementary to the Nimonic series of wrought heat-resisting alloys.

Uses of Fibreglass A BOOKLET designid to help man ufacturers who are about to explore the uses of reinforced plastics, has been produced by Fibreglass, Ltd., Ravenhead, St. Helens, Lanes, It is entitled "Fibreglass Reinforced Plastics" and has just been revised.

An outline of the types of Fibreglass reinforcement and resin available in this country is given together with a brief description of manufacturing methods and some basic technical data.
