0 NCE again at the congress of the International Union of Public Transport, Mr. E. Nielsen, director of Copenhagen Transport, attacked the latitude given to motorists when park
ing their cars as the main cause of the chaotic congestion in town centres, and reiterated the need to educate the public to accept far more stringent parking restrictions.
The congress, which has been held this , year in Hamburg and Berlin, opened on August 29 and closes today.
The urgent necessity to introduce the most economical types of fare system and to make the maximum use of one-man operation formed the themes of the second congress paper, presented pos
thumously on behalf of Mr. B. B. C. Felix, former director of The Hague Tramways. He gave figures showing the savings with one-man vehicles.
