Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Vif York coach proprietor's application to operate an express service between York and Leeds Greyhound Stadium, last week, they found that one of the applicant's witnesses was a railway employee. This witness said he travelled from the stadium back to York on the last coach because it was more convenient than travelling by rail.

The application was made by Mr. R. M. Daniel, York, who wanted to operate one coach from York direct to the stadium on Mondays and Saturdays throughout the year, with additional journeys on Easter Monday, WhitMonday and other Bank Holidays.

Objectors included three coach operators: Mr. Daniel said that he was making

the application at the request of the Leeds Greyhound Association, Ltd., and had received three letters promising support. People from York attending the track had to miss the last race in order to catch a coach home.

Questioned by Mr. T. B. Atkinson, for British Railways, he agreed that the Greyhound Association had promised to subsidize the service if it did not pay, but he denied that it was this offer which had induced him to apply. The application was refused.
