I N the year ended May 15, 1935, the 64 buses of Dundee Corporation— mainly of Leyland make—were operated at a gross profit of £15,657 (compared with 217,019 in the previous year), income having totalled £103,683 and working expenses £88,026. After meeting interest, debt redemption and other charges, the surplus is reduced to £5,525.

During the year the buses covered an aggregate mileage of 2,193,477 and carried 16,143,240 passengers. Except• for the year ended May, 1933, there has been a satisfactory surplus on the working of the buses for the past eight years.

PORT TALBOT TO ACQUIRE NEW BUS CENTRE?

PORT TALBOT Corporation has decided to apply for compulsory powers to acquire a site in Talbot Square for use as a bus centre.

Should the scheme mature, the corporation intends to ban the present system of allowing buses to use the highways as terminal points, and it hopes to obtain some return in revenue.

. WELSH STRIKE CONTINUES'

THE latest news, at the time of going to press, of the bus strike in West Wales, involving nearly 2,000 men, is that, at a mass meeting on Saturday last, a decision was made to continue the strike. A demand from Mr. Bevin, general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union, that the men observe the constitution of the Union and its leadership and go back to work prior to the opening up of negotiations, was rejected.
