A commercial motor parade, arranged by the Commercial Motor Users' Association and the East Lancashire Road Transport Association, is to be held in Blackburn on Saturday, September 21, when there will be nine classes, including special divisions for oil-engined and decorated vehicles. . Bristol Firms Displacing Horses.

Further applications for the displacement of horses by motor vehicles were made last week before the Licensing Authority for the Western Area. Messrs. G. and J. Jacobs of St. Phillips, Bristol, applied, for an A licence for an additional vehicle. The machine was required as the concern was now disposing of four horses. The Licensing Authority, Mr. A. F. Nicholson, granted a B licence.

In a further case, Messrs. S. and A. Stone, of Bristol, applied for B -licences for two additional motor vehicles, These machines were to replace three horses. In this instance, the licences

were granted, on the applicants giving an undertaking that they would dispose of four horses instead of the three suggested.

New Northern Haulage Concern.

Messrs. Oliver and Sinclair is the titleof a new firm of hauliers and general carriers formed at Newcastle-on-Tyne with a nominal capital of £3,000. The directors are J. Oliver, 638, Armstrong 'Road, Newcastle; E, Sinclair, 2, Holly Gardens, Newcastle; and E. Payne, 47, Forsyth Road, Newcastle.

LATEST W.D. ORDER FOR SIX-WHEELERS.

Crossley Motors, Ltd., 'Manchester, has recently received from the War Department an order for 47 six-wheeled vehicles. The type requisitioned is the forward-control model, equipped with a 30-O b.h.p. four-cylindered petrol engine and auxiliary gearbox for use under arduous conditions of service. Some of the chassis will be equipped with generators for lighting and wireless purposes and others will have winches.
