DUBLIN-BASED O'Reilly Transport has been named Irish Haulier of the Year at the Irish Road Haulage Association's annual awards in Dublin.

The prestigious awards are sponsored by Commercial Motor, 0, and Dempsey Mullen.

CM legal editor Patric Cunnane, who is one of the j udges, presented MDs Eugene and Virginia O'Reilly and their family with the coveted trophy. He says: "This company demonstrated a great deal of forward thinking in its development of technology for the benefit of its customers."

"We will use the award for promotion.That's what it's all about," says Eugene O'Reilly. "We have expanded every year since we started and we are optimistic we will do the same this year."

Outside Dublin the 100-vehicle operation has bases in Northern Ireland and Bradford, and it is about to open a warehouse in Heysham, Lanes.

O'Reilly also won International Haulier of the Year (more than 10 vehicles category). Other category winners were: K&L Deliveries, Cork,(National Haulier, more than 10 vehicles); O'Toole Transport.
