Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FROM JANUARY 1 next year, permits for unaccompanied trailers going direct to France will be available on demand.

In addition, 7,0 0 0 more French road haulage permits are to be made available this year for accompanied trailers. Quota permits will still be needed for trailers transitting France or arriving from another country.

Transport Minister Lynda Chalker, announcing the changes, said: "This will effectively increase the number of permits available for accompanied trailers by 25 per cent."

The International Road Freight Office will be in touch with hauliers about the distribution of extra permits for accompanied vehicles in 1984 and 1985. General inquiries can be made to the IRFO, Westgate House, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1TVV. Phone: 0632-610031.
