Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SECOND senior board member is leaving London Regional Transport, this time to join British Rail.

Following LRT bus managing director Dr David lausrmby's move to J. Sainsbury (see p78) which takes place later this month, finance and planning director Ian Phillips has announced his move to a similar post at British Rail.

Mr Phillips has been with LRT and London Transport since 1969, when he left the John Lewis Partnership, and has been an LT board member since 1980. He moves to BR in January, succeeding Philip Sellers, who has joined the Post Office board.

Mr Phillips said last week: "After a long and Interesting period dealing with the provision end development of public transport in Greater London, I am looking forward to moving Into an organisation which has a vital national role.

"Many of the problems that face LRT are mirrored on an even larger scale within BR."

There was still no word of Dr Ouarmby's successor at LRT as we closed for press this week.
