era. As well as being a review of the past year's test vehicles over 31/2 tons gross, it marks the end of our famous Scottish test route which has provided a standard for operators and manufacturers alike.

Not that this means the end of our long-distance tests. Far from it. The existing Scottish test route had begun to outlive it's usefulness with, for example, the MI sections becoming unusable for comparative purposes because of the extensive road works.

The original route has been replaced by one which goes even further in following the operation of a typical vehicle user. Full details of the new route will appear in our special Motor Show Preview on October 13 with the first full road test appearing in colour the following week.
