The winner of a mini driver of the year competition, open to customers and members of the press who attended the launch of the new Tidd Golden Strongbox at Silverstone last week was our own Bill Brock. The timed test comprised of manoeuvring a 12m (40ft) Tidd box van semi trailer around an obstacle course on the back of a Dodge Barreiros tractive unit. Penalty points were imposed for touching the dunce hat markers, deviation from the course or failing to stop in the prescribed area. Bill took only 2min 20sec to complete the course incurring 10 penalty points. His nearest competition came from the ranks of the customer entrants with a time of 3min 30sec and a total of 6.0 penalty points which just goes to show that we are able to put into practice what we preach.
