A NEW VERSION of MaxCess — a maximum access van that can be built to give up to five-way accessibility — is being unveiled at the NEC by Lawrence David Ltd of Peterborough.
The Mk II will be exhibited on a 9.1m (30ft) trailer. It will feature new doors that can be opened fully to fold flat to the body sides; a new unlocking mechanism that incorporates a safety device; improved double seals on all doors and an extensive use of aluminium to reduce weight. panels with extruded aluminium framework. The new cam hinges attached to each end of the door are incorporated into a one-piece aluminium extrusion designed to hold a double-lipped neoprene seal.
The new door-operating mechanism incorporates a single lever which can be slid either to the right or to the left, depending on which side of the door is to be used to rotate the hinge and locking cam to open the door. A fail-safe device ensures that only one door hinge and locking cam can be opened at any one time.
