MERSEYSIDE PTE's increased bus fares took effect last Sunday, but three increases have been deferred until April 1 next year. The North Western Traffic Commissioners felt that some effects of a refinement of fare stages in the area would lead to unreasonable increases and decided that the refinement should be undertaken in two stages.
Initially fares are Sp (one mile), lip (1.5 miles), 16p (two miles). and 18p (three miles), and from next year they will be 8p (one mile), 14p (two miles), and 20p (three miles).
