Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AAnhydrous ammonia is not one of the more dangerous chemicals from a transport standpoint, though of course it requires special care and trained, experienced personnel. The flammable limits, for exaMple, are a mixture of 16 per cent to 25 per cent with air, by volume, but even then the ignition temperature is around 650deg C — so fire and explosion risks in transport are negligible.

A useful guide to the subject is published by the Chemical Industries Association, 93 Albert Embankment, London SE! 7TU, price 30p net. The title is Code of Practice for the safe handling and transport of anhydrous ammonia. It is the joint work of major chemical companies who have operated codes of practice in their own businesses and have now worked together to produce an agreed common standard.
