• The Birmingham proprietor of a general haulage and also a commercial vehicle repair company appeared before the West Midland LA, Mr R. R. Jackson, this week under Section 69.
Mr D. A. Sager, vehicle examiner, said that after a visit to the premises of Gray Commercials and Grays Transport he had placed a delayed GV9 on one vehicle and immediate GV9s on two others. "I consider Mr Gray's fleet suffered at the expense of others on which he was carrying out service and maintenance work," said Mr Sager.
Mr A. A. Gray denied that two vehicles on which immediate GV9s had been placed belonged to him or were on his operator's licence. He now intended to ensure a rigid inspection and repair service.
Mr Jackson, who said in view of this he was prepared to be lenient, removed Mr Gray's margin of one vehicle leaving him with two on his licence, and reminded him of the story of the cobbler whose own shoes needed repairing.
