• Glasgow Corporation and the TRRL have begun a new series of tests of the Transyt computer-cdntrol system for the 90 traffic signals in the central area of the city. The Transyt settings used since 1969 have given reductions of up to 20 per cent on average journey times through the city centre.
It is now intended to attempt to speed the
journeys of Glasgow Corporation buses through the network by superimposition of a new programme on the basic Transyt system. This involves extra "weighting" of buses CM known routes in an attempt to influence signals to give speedier handling of those crossings where the buses are involved, The experiment runs to the end of this month.
