• The Transport and General Workers' Union is to call for a ban on all overtime until the unemployment situation is resolved. The call will go out at the 20th Scottish Delegate Conference of the union on October 20 at Stirling. It is one of 29 resolutions which will be debated. Another is to ask that the working week be reduced to 35 hours and that annual and statutory holidays be extended so that the industry can absorb school leavers and the unemployed.
