• Two suggested methods of costing goods vehicle operation are contained in a booklet produced for its members by the Road Haulage Association. Entitled Two suggested methods of costing commercial road vehicles, the booklet costs 80p post free; pads of costing forms designed for the scheme can also be obtained from the RHA by members.
One suggested method involves working out the cost and revenue of each vehicle once a week, and on a cumulative weekly basis. The other method, less complicated, involves keeping a profit and loss account for the whole business on a monthly basis.
