THIS SPECIAL 55/60-ton g.v.w. semitrailer has been supplied by Carrimore Six Wheelers Ltd. to Richards and Wallington (Plant Hire) Ltd., of Wharf Lane, Birmingham, for the carriage of Babcock Marion 47MB crawler cranes which have an overall track width of 13ft 8in and weigh 43 tons without the jib.

The trailer has a fully-cranked frame and quickly detachable oscillating axles with four steel disc wheels fitted with Goodyear 16.00 by 20 24-ply tyres. Applied to each wheel, the Girling brakes are operated from the three-line air system.

A load deck length of 24ft is combined with a width of 9ft 6th, which can be increased if required with the use of out-riggers, fitted to the side channels. The upper deck has a length of 1211 and is fitted with a robust steel bolster and a tubular guard rail.

The tractive unit is a 1411 4-1n-wheelbase Atkinson T.5566C 6 x 4, equipped with a Cummins NH220 six-cylinder diesel, a Fuller RT0915 15-speed gearbox, a double-drive bogie having a third differential and differential lock, spring brakes and a three-line air-braking system.

Other features include a glass-fibre de-luxe cab and two fuel tanks giving a total capacity of 135gal.
