containers by TONY WILDING yET another American trailer and container manufacturer has taken steps to break into the British market. Miller Trailers Inc., of Bradenton, Florida and Keir and Cawder (Engineering) Ltd., of Bishop Briggs, Glasgow, have jointly set up a £.100,000 company to manufacture and market semitrailers and containers to the American company's design.

Name of the new company is K-CEE Miller Ltd. and 75 per cent of the issued capital is held by Keir and Cawder who will provide the working capital, manufacturing facilities and marketing organization. Miller hold the balance of the capital and will provide production and technical know-how, patent rights and information on development work in America.

Production is due to start at the end of this month and first-year target is 1,000 units and a turnover of £1.5m.

Keir and Cawder has a wide range of engineering interests, including earthmoving and quarry equipment, and will expand its Bishop Briggs factory.

K-CEE Miller, I understand, will eventually produce a range of 30 semi-trailer and container models, including maximumgross singleand tandem-axle trailers.

• AN AMERICAN firm is to carry out a six-month £15,000 survey of traffic problems in the Tyne and Wear area with the aim of recommending a programme of co-ordinating rail, road and air traffic. The survey is backed by the county councils of Durham and Northumberland and the corporations of Newcastle, Gateshead, South Shields, Tynemouth and Sunderland.
