by JOHN DARKER TRADE UNIONS in the municipal bus industry will withdraw from national wage and conditions agreements—as I predicted (CM, page 49, last week)on October 12.

They gave notice of this at a wages committee meeting of the NJC, and the Council itself will meet on that day for the formal break-up.

Either side could change its viewpoint before then. Or the Minister of Labour might intervene to preserve the NJC.

Now the unions plan to demand substantial wage demands in line with their "busmen's charter"—demands backed by threats of industrial action.
