A deputation from the Londonderry Corporation recently visited England for the purpose of inspecting the organization of various omnibus undertakings. The corporation had in mind discarding the present buses which are in use and substituting vehicles of a smaller type, and it has now reported that Birmingham and Leeds were the only centres from which useful informatiou regarding the operation of such vehicles could be obtained. After due consideration of the facts relating to the systems in operation in these cities, the deputation formed the view that a service of small buses could be run successfully in Londonderry city.
For the moment the authorities do not contemplate displacing the vehicles now in service, but by evidencing a preference for smaller buses they have, possibly, indicated their future requirements—a fact which manufacturers should keep in mind.
