TRAILERS, tyres and wheels, and accessories and equipment being brought into the Department of Transport's vehicle ret codes of practice.

The commercial trailer code has been agreed with the Commercial Trailer Association and the Association of Trailer Manufacturers, in association with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders which already operates the recall code for lorries and buses.

A parts and accessories code has been agreed with the SMMT, Motor Agents Association, and the Motor Factors Association. And the tyres and wheels code has been agreed with the British Rubber Ma facturers Association, the ported Tyre Manufacturers sociation, the Retre Manufacturers Association, National Tyre Distributors sociation, and MAA a SMMT.

Another code has be agreed for caravans and Ii trailers.

The existing code for cc plete vehicles involved n campaigns between April ,( September this year, takin,c 6,761 goods vehicles. The t ponse rates from operators tween October 1979 and S tember last year was 80 cent for goods vehicles.

Operators are informed the recalls, using the DI centralised registration reco in Swansea.
