MR. W. W. PAUL, sales promotion manager of the motor section of Brown Brothers, Ltd., has been appointed assistant general manager of the same section. His former position has been taken by MR, A. W. BATES. MR. E. C. HILL has been appointed assistant manager of the Hull branch, and MR. A. J. STOCKER assistant manager of the London sales section.

MR. J. WATSON (Aberthaw and Bristol Channel Cement Co., Ltd.) and MR. J. I. PLENTY (Hoover. Ltd.) have been elected chairman and vice-chairman respectively, of the South Wales Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association. MR. E. W. ROBERTS (David Jones and Co., Ltd.) has been re-elected chairman of the Merseyside and North Wales Division. MR. L. J. HOPKINS (Rea, Ltd.), vice-chairman, and MR. T. WILLIAMS (United Molasses Co., Ltd.), treasurer, were also re-elected.

HAULIER'S HEAVY FINE . THE use of a vehicle for hire or reward without an appropriate licence, and the employment of a special-A licence identity certificate with intent to deceive, led to a heavy fine being imposed on a haulier at Manchester last week.

After pleading guilty, Mr. A. C. Harrison, Beechfield, Glazebrook Lane, Glazebrook, was fined £100 on the first charge and £50 on the second, plus £1_. 10s. witnesses' fees, and £15 15s. costs.
