4-1 A SCHEME for decentralizing the

reconditioning of Bedford engines came into operation this week. Local Bedford agents now recondition engines to rigid standards laid down by Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., instead of suchwork being done at the Vauxhall factory.

One of the advantages is stated to be that engines are now available from stock at all main dealers and at short notice from any dealer.

As an alternative to a completely reconditioned 28 h.p. engine, Bedford dealers offer a "short-motor assembly" on exchange. This assembly, built at the factory to current specification, consists of a new cylinder block, crankshaft and bearings, camshaft and bearings, pistons, connecting rods, timing sprockets, chain and case and crankcase front plate. Exchange engines are available either complete or stripped, including flywheel and water pump, but no other ancillary equipment.

A Bedford reconditioned engine in stripped form costs £45. If it incorporates a new "short-motor assembly," the price is £60. The standard exchange retail price of the "short-motor assembly" alone is £47 10$., which applies whatever the condition of the Unit handed 'in may be, DUNLOP FACTORY IN SPAIN

A FACTORY in Bilbao, Spain, to I-1 manufacture Dunlop tyres is likely to go into operation soon, following negotiations which have been taking place between Dunlop and certain Spanish interests during recent months.

A licence to manufacture is held by Socieciad lberica de Comas y Amiantos, S.A., Bilbao, but it is understood that a new company will be formed in which the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., as a foreign investor, will hold a minority share interest, as permitted by Spanish law.
