In only two or three directions have our applications for donations met with rebuffs, due either to a misapprehension of facts or prior commitment to other schemes, but,in those few and isolated instances we have not received a single refusal that has been accompanied by any condemnatory or critical opinions, it is, for these reasons, the more surprising to us that we should learn of spiteful attacks in print upon this one of many branches of our,war-period .a•ctivities. An attack upon such a cause, in a. sense from within the motor world itself, whilst-it-does -us no harm whatever as a journal, fills us with personal regrets.
