III Bidders were paying Lio,000 for i999-vintage 4.2m-high air suspended 13.6m Fruehauf curtainsider trailers at a recent Saturday auction organised by Stone, Stafford

shire-based Malcolm Harrison.

The Leeds auction was held to dispose of trucks, trailers, garage equipment and other items owned by General Haulage, which has closed down.

Trailers dating back to 1998 of the same make and specification sold for £8,300 to £9,000 apiece, while their counterparts going back to 1996 were selling for £6,30o to £7,000.

Curtainsiders weren't the only trailers coming under the hammer. Triaxle 4oft SDC flats on air, dating back to 1993, were disposed of for £3,250 to L3,5oca while a Peak 1991-vintage 13.6m triaxle flat on air sold for £3,5oo.

The Scania tractors on offer attracted enthusiastic bidding too.

Three 1999-vintage T-registered Ri24 360 6xa rear lifts sold for £18,800 to £19,000 each.

Three more going back to 1997, and to exactly the same specification, were knocked out for Lir,5oo to £12,000.

The old 3 Series Scanias remain popular, despite their advancing years. Jplated Rti3 6x2 twinsteers on air, registered in 1992. went for L'3,500 to £4.00ci, while a buyer paid £3,300 for a C-plated R113 6x2 going back to 1990.

Turning to ancillary tackle, a 3o,000-litre diesel tank was sold for over £4,000.

Over 300 people

attended the event, and very few of them were traders.

Malcolm Harrison will be holding several similar sales in the coming months as operators either close down or scale back their activities.
