Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In response to your article on particulate traps (CM 30 Jan-5 Feb), we would like to comment on the statement "most designs require regular maintenance, increase fuel consumption and add weight".

Eminox is the sole manufacturer of the CRT (Continuously Regenerating Trap), a combined oxidation catalyst and particulate filter. The CRT is housed within a stainless steel modular unit which occupies the same amount of space as a comparable standard exhaust system. Because of the stain less-steel construction, the unit certainly does not reduce payload, nor does the device increase fuel consumption to any significant degree. The CRT has been engineered to avoid the buildup of back pressure, when fitted under correct operating conditions the catalytic reactions within the product promote continuous regeneration (as the name suggests) thereby preventing any build up of soot and the resulting lack of engine efficiency.

Marketing executive, Erninox.
