wage rates for British Road Services employees in operating and ancillary grades has been lodged by the
transport unions. This follows the recent Wages Council haulage pay award, still subject to confirmation at a meeting on March 12.
New Retriever: Leyland Motors has added a long-wheelbase tipper chassis to the Retriever range. Frame length is 25 ft. 1 in., accommodating a 20-ft. by 8-f t. body with normal front-end tipping gear. With a body weighing 45 cwt. it could carry 11 tons 121 cwt, within its legal gross rating, the new model being intended chiefly for bulky loads.
