GREATLY improved facilities for handling vehicles passing through Dover to or from France will be afforded by a new ferry terminal which is intended to come into partial operation in April, The loading bridges are being constructed to rise and fall with the tide. Two parks will be available to accommodate 500 vehicles and there will be a filling station with oil-fuel pumps.
The terminal will be fully operating in July, when four vessels will use it. During the summer there will be seven arrivals and seven departures daily. In 1952, 112,292 vehicles were taken across the Channel by sea, compared with 10.002 in 1947.
