Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Scottish Licensing Authority stopped proceedings during the resumed hearing of an application by Scottish Roadways, Ltd., Ayr, to operate Continental tours, and dismissed the case because of a lack of evidence and because one of the witnesses could not be regarded as dependable. The earlier part of the hearing was reported last week.

It was proposed that tours be run to Northern France, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg at £37 I6s. The Railway Executive, Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd., Cotter's Motor Tours, Ltd., and IvIcKelvie and Co., Ltd, objected. Mr. R. Cotter, of Cotter's Motor Tours, Ltd., said that there was little demand for Continental tours from Ayrshire people. His company had carried only 54 passengers from the county to Europe during the past year.

Mr. C. J. Lowden, chief of the applicant concern, denied an assertion by Mr D. Mackay, representing two of the objectors, that the application of Scottish Roadways, Ltd., was an attempt to introduce Northern Road

ways into Continental tours." Mr. Lowden agreed, however, that his company were agents for Northern Roadways, Ltd.
