Brighton Corporation deals with 200 vehicles of various makes and types and 170 mechanical appliances, states the manager in a report to the council. In the most recent financial year, £34,020 was spent on fuel, oil and tyres, £19,950 on maintenance of vehicles and £31,600 on new equipment.
The stores issue about 40,000 items annually. Every vehicle is detailed for monthly servicing and, where warranted, petrol-engined vehicles are being replaced by oilers.
