Objection to the use of the Road Fund for purposes other than roads improvement was expressed by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, and by Mr. F. Whiteman Smith, president of the Petrol Retailers Association, at the annual dinner of the Aberdeen hranch of the Institute of the Motor Trade. Mr. Patrick N. Shinnie presided.

British Vans at Lyons Fair.
At the Lyons Fair, which opened yesterday. (March 5), a range of British light vans of Austin manufacture is on . view. These comprise the Seven, TenFour and Light Twelve-Four types, ranging from 5 cwt. to 10 cwt.

France Producing Synthetic Petnoi.
Following the example of Britain and Germany, France has begun to produce synthetic petrol. It is estimated that there will shortly be a total annual output of 100,000 tons from three plants.
