The organization of London Transport has been revised with the object of securing greater co-operation be tween the various road services of the Board. MR. A. C. RICHARDSON becomes chief inspecting officer, whilst MR. T. E. THOMAS will be responsible for the operation of the Board's road services, with the title of general manager (road transport). Mr. Thomas has had wide experience in the operation of all forms of surface transport, dating from 1899. He was appointed general manager of the' Board's tramways in October, 1933. He is a foundation member and gold medallist of the Institute of Transport, and chairman of the Tramways, Light Railways and Transport Association.

SIR JOLIN MAXWELL, C.M.G. (chairman of the Northern Area Traffic Commissioners), and LADY MAXWELL are keenly interested in social work. A few days ago Sir John broadcast an appeal from the Newcastle Station to assist the funds of the Northumberland and Newcastle Police Court Mission. Such missions serve a useful function in alleviating the troubles of many who appear at these Courts, although, so far, it is not often that road-transport operators require to take advantage of their good offices.
