AROUND 900 National Carrie' drivers will lose their jobs at th end of this month, when Britis Rail's express parcels collectio and delivery service ceases.
The company will stop cone ting parcels for BR at the end ( next week, and the servici which has been declining sinc BR announced its death la! year, will run down finally ow the following two weeks.
A National Carrier spokesman told CM that th company has been successful i taking a large share of BR's pa cels traffic for High Street an industrial customers.
Slow, but steady growth of ii contract hire work is helping t fill the gap left by the loss of th rail contract, he added.
