Your readers should be aware that only the fuel in the normal fuel tank of a vehicle is admitted without payment of duty. Fuel in supplementary tanks must be declared to Customs on import and will be charged with UK excise duty at the current rate.

Failure to declare the fuel in such tanks is an offence.
