gets his 0-licence

A MAN who said he expects to earn E2,000 a week with a 32 ton articulated outfit was successful in' obtaining a new national Operator's licence before the North Western Licensing Authority, Roy Hutchings.

G. Buckley and L. McGarry, trading as G.B. Transport of Liverpool, applied for a licence for one vehicle and one trailer in possession, and three vehicles and three trailers to be acquired.

Gary Buckley said he did not have a certificate of professional competence, but if the company got its licence, he would employ a Mr Carney as his full-time transport manager under a proper contract of employment.

He proposed to put three vehicles on the road as soon as trade picks up and added that he expected to earn £2,000 a week with one vehicle on general haulage and the carriage of containers.

Questioned by Mr Hutchings, Mr Buckley said one load to London would earn him £450, and with a return load it would make 000. He could always get return loads because of his contacts in London. He felt he could easily make £104,000 with one vehicle.

Mr Carney would arrange loads and vehicle inspections. He anticipated paying him around £50 per week. (£2,500 a year).

Granting the licence for one year only, Mr Hutchings said he had considerable reservations, but was prepared to give Mr Buckley a chance. Should there be any problems, the licence would not be renewed.
