Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A nation-wide road safety campaign is to be mounted this summer by the tyre makers of the UK. Supported by road safety officers and police forces, the campaign will be emphasized by full-colour posters featuring a badly worn tyre, a wreath and the words 'Worn tyres cost lives".

Thousands of sites throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will carry 10ft tall posters throughout June, July, August and September, and at least 25,000 sites provided by road safety officers will display a smaller version of the poster.

During the campaign, the tyre makers are also drawing attention to the fact that endorsement of a driver's licence automatically follows a conviction for an offence against the regulations introduced last year—and that three endorsements lead to disqualification.

A National Tyre Week is to take place during the early part of the campaign—from June 16-22. This is being run by the National Tyre Distributors' Association, with whom BR MA is collaborating.
